The maps serve as geographic orientation to this region of Bahia, while the graphs present visualizations of the region’s demographic and social history.  The research emphasis is on uncovering the social structure of Santiago do Iguape, paying particular attention to free and enslaved family life, the distribution of resources, and how changes after the end of new African slave imports into Brazil in 1851 changed the region’s demographic composition.
